The UN Security Council’s primary concern is sustaining international peace. It serves the purpose of determining potential or existing threats that call for international aid, and then decides to either initiate a peace action or an action of aggression. In this council, the fifteen member states – including the permanent five – can put forward clauses that will help solve issues discussed in a safe and hopefully widely satisfying way. They often can employ the UN military and police forces, which are contributed to by national armies. The BAMUN heads for the Security Council this year are Nicolas Afonso and Miles Mpofu.
